Habitat for Humanity Corpus Christi was chartered in 1989 and dedicated its first home in 1990. In the 29 years since its founding, we're proud to say that HFHCC has made a difference in the lives of 53 families in our community by partnering with them to build their homes!

In response to Hurricane Harvey, HFHCC has implemented our Home Preservation Program which includes assistance with Critical Home and Disaster Repairs. HFHCC has assisted 20 families with roof repairs and anticipates assisting 40 additional families.

HFHCC has saved thousands of dollars thanks to volunteer hours leveraged through construction, home repairs, ReStore, special events, family selection, and other committee efforts. Your financial support, your voice, and your time will help families in need of a decent place to live.
No matter who we are or where we come from, we all deserve to have a decent life. We deserve to know we have the power to take care of ourselves and build our own futures.
And every single one of us deserves the opportunity for a better future. Toni, a single mom and her two boys were living in an unhealthy environment with mold issues in every room. The landlord continued to just paint over the areas never eradicating the real problem. All three family members suffer with complications from asthma. Toni also could not let the boys play outside because they were in an unsafe neighborhood. Alonso and Tony spent all their time away from school inside an apartment full of mold. It was what they could afford.

Toni was working full time while going to school so she could better her situation and improve life for her boys. When asked how she would manage work, school and complete her required "sweat-equity" hours, Toni's response was an adamant, "There is no choice. I have to do this, to make life better for my boys. This is for my family. This is for my sons." HFHCC worked to make her wish, and the hopes of her two boys, come true this past spring. Toni and her boys moved into the 52nd home built by HFHCC. Her youngest son's hope was to one day have a home close to his school. Their new home is right across the street from his school. Studies have shown children who live in their own home do better in school and socially.

With help from the Habitat program, hard work, and careful budgeting Toni's family has a clean, decent, place to live. Toni will have reduced her monthly housing costs empowering her to become a better provider for her boys.
