Communities in Schools Coastal Bend
The mission of Communities in Schools is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life.
For 33 years, Communities In Schools of the Coastal Bend has been dedicated to helping students succeed in school, graduate and achieve in life. With the support of School Districts, School Boards, Administration, Principals, teachers, and contributions of community partners, CISCB serves the most vulnerable and high-risk students. Serving 43 campuses, within 13 school districts and across 6 counties, CISCB site coordinators assess the needs of students from Pre-K to grade 12. Site Coordinators provide prevention and intervention strategies through integrated case management services assisting with everything from academic support to a new pair of shoes. CISCB demonstrated success in each of the following state mandated performance measures, as certified by TEA: Academics 97%, Attendance 77%, Behavior 99%, Promotion 96%, Stay in School 99%, Graduation 95%.
The Communities In Schools (CIS) organization has served as a positive source of support for our students and families. Through their efforts, we have been able to provide students with resources to improve their opportunities to achieve a quality education. Whether it is to fulfill school supplies needs, appropriate clothing, food, city bus passes, or to provide field trips, we can always count on the CIS organization to unselfishly seek a way to benefit the students. The CIS representatives work with parents to ensure that they have the tools they need to send children to school well-fed, dressed, rested, and ready to learn. We are grateful for the community partnerships that the CIS organization continues to build in order to help our school develop healthy, happy learners for the 21st century.
